AFA Flock School Gets High Marks

The American Flock Association’s triennial Flock School once again received high marks as attendees gathered on the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth campus.  The entire flock process was covered from flock, adhesive and substrates to coating techniques and post finishing concepts.  Special attention was given to object flocking.

Selected as the best part of the two day program was the hands on flocking session in Professor Yong Kim’s laboratory.  Everyone had an opportunity to coat and flock a piece of fabric as well as a small Styrofoam ball.

The highest rated classroom session was the adhesive class where  attendees had a chance to get their hands dirty as they touched adhesives with different rheologies.  Other sessions introduced folks to the broad range of possibilities when you “design with flock in mind”.

Attendees experienced a taste of New England on Thursday night with a lobster clam bake.  The UMass Dartmouth campus provided a true college experience.  The rave reviews will guide the Association in planning the next session of Flock School in 2019.
